Movin On Up

Well, our family spent the beginning of the week with a stomach bug... Rainah came down with it first, waking up on Saturday with it. She threw up a few times and was definately not her usual busy self. Monday morning I woke up not feeling well and as the day went on I got worse. It was not a fun day. Thankfully I work up feeling much much better on Tuesday, but Wednesday, Don came down with it. Not a fun week! Besides Rainah's doctor appointment, we didn't do much. She did, however, move up to her NEW car seat today! I must say, I'll miss that infant seat, but onward and upward! She seemed to really like it and found it most comfortable. (thank you, Aunt Lynne!!)

12 Month Stats (better late than never!)

Rainah's 12 month appointment was originally back at the beginning of the month, but our doctor called in sick (can they DO that????). So we were rescheduled to today... Rainah weighed in at 19 pounds, 10 ounces and 29.5 inches. That's a lotta growin in 12 months! She started out at just 7 pounds 2 ounces and 20.5 inches long. Doctor said she looks great! She had to get 5 shots today :( but she was a trooper and only cried until I picked her up. After that she was fine and walked out of the office all on her own!

And this isn't even the part that hurts!!

Just a comparison

Whatever keeps 'em quiet and happy while waiting!

A year ago today

The other night Don wondered out loud what we were doing one year ago... I half jokingly said, "I was probably sitting here crying", referring to my bout with the baby blues.
A year ago today, Don's sister, Lynne came to visit from Arizona and help out for a week and she was amazing, going grocery shopping, and making lots of yummy meals for us! Here are a few pictures from January 15, 2007:

It's Official

she's a walker!! Rainah's first official "steps" were on Halloween when she took about 4 in a row. We worked with her a lot in the evenings and she was getting really steady, but then took a break for a few weeks when she decided she really could get places a lot faster by crawling. About 2 weeks ago she started to really get interested in it again and has gotten better every day, manuevering her way around corners and tables. The last few days her preferred method of getting around has been upright. It's so exciting but so sad at the same time... no longer a baby, but officially a toddler!

Grand Rapids Children's Museum

Today we were able to go to the Children's Museum downtown with a few friends; we've only been there once before and Rainah was only about 6 weeks old. This time she was able to participate a bit more and she had a great time! Don's office is just a few blocks and since it was 55 degrees out, he walked over to join us. We can't wait to go back!

She LOVED the ball pit

And she always loves a mirror!

Baby, I've got a fever, and the only prescription is more COWBELL!
